This Is Going To Be A Really Dark Winter"
"Heating a home in America has turned into a monthly gamble, and a lot of families are losing it. In this video the people living it tell it first-hand, on their own phones, in their own words - the bills, the shutoffs, the propane deliveries they cannot pay for, and what they do to get through the night. One family watches their heating bill jump from about two hundred fifty dollars to over six hundred. A Chicago mom wakes up to a freezing apartment with no heat. A renter lives through a sixth winter without heat in a forty-seven degree living room. The gas company cuts off one family's heat after demanding seven hundred dollars more. An oil company asks for an eight hundred twenty-five dollar hold before it will even deliver. A propane tank runs dry after a snowstorm, and the company locks it while the kids are home sick with fevers. One woman is staring at a twenty thousand dollar propane bill she cannot pay, and another expects half her tax refund to go to January's heat. And at the end, two households show how they got out from under it with wood. Every clip is a real person, filmed on their own phone, telling what happened in their own words. Nothing here is staged."
