"Americans Are Done With Dollar General
After This Just Happened"
"The sticker says $1.25. The register says $2.00. The app says there is a coupon. The cashier says it is not working this week. And nobody behind the counter can change it. These are seventeen shoppers who pulled out a phone at the register instead of letting it go. A Dollar General coupon that has failed three trips in a row. Mold inside a sealed pack of ravioli from the DG Market. A small Family Dollar bag that rang up at $17. An $11 haul off TikTok that came out to $22.67. A manager who refused to take $13.75 in quarters. A $1.25 sticker scanning at $2.00, with corporate blamed for the difference. A store sitting at 82 degrees inside with no milk left in the dairy case, and another one closed two days straight in 104-degree Texas heat because the air was out. Laundry detergent bottles on the shelf that were all half empty. Dayquil at $13.84 that Walmart sells for $9. A birthday bag for $6.50. A perfume with no price tag that turned out to be $3. Halloween decorations that went from $5 to $8. And a clearance sticker that raised the price by two cents. Real shoppers, real stores, their own words."
