"Why Is The US In A Cascade Of Dangers?"
Experts are now warning the United States to prepare for a cascade of dangers this winter - and it comes down to two things colliding at the worst possible moment. Sweeping cuts to NOAA have slashed staff levels, canceled contracts and grants, and shut down databases and research labs. The agency long considered a global crown jewel in climate science and forecasting has lost roughly 20% of its staff since January 2025. At the same time, forecasters are tracking a potentially historic Super El NiƱo for 2026–2027, and a polar vortex forecast to weaken and stretch in early November - which can push cold air deep into the Southeast for days, if not weeks. In this video: what a "cascade of dangers" actually means, the flooding already hitting Hawaii, heavy rain aimed at Southern California on Halloween weekend, what stratospheric warming does to the jet stream, and why experts say this is the worst possible time for both of these to happen at once."
