"Less than one week from the 2026 midterm elections - and the federal government is already preparing for an election doomsday scenario. According to three officials, the Justice Department has been discussing contingency plans to intervene in next week's midterms, covering scenarios seen as improbable but not impossible: foreign interference, claims that non-citizens voted, and chaos at the polls. In Alaska, a Trump-ordered DOJ lawsuit asked a federal judge to block the state from certifying a winner unless the incumbent, Republican Senator Dan Sullivan, comes out on top. Alaska is fighting back - and a judge has now set filing deadlines.
