"Humility"

"Humility"
Hamna Two

"When a wolf is losing a fight against another wolf and understands that it no longer has a chance of winning, the losing wolf peacefully offers its jugular to its opponent, as if to say, "I lost, let's get this over with." However, at that moment, the incredible happens. The victorious wolf, inexplicably, freezes. An ancient force prevents him from killing the one who humbly admits defeat. Some primal mechanism, embedded in the DNA or beyond it, is triggered in the winning wolf and reminds it that the species is more important than the pleasure of eliminating the opponent. What a marvelous instinctive clockwork! No one would call a wolf who surrenders cowardly, nor would one who freezes compassionate; the miracle simply happens. Neither victor nor vanquished. Both wolves walk away, and the wheel of life continues. And this is known as: humility"
