President Vladimir Putin announced the successful test of the Poseidon 2M39, calling it a revolutionary nuclear-powered torpedo capable of evading all existing defences. The Kremlin described it as a “strategic breakthrough,” signalling Moscow’s determination to revive the 21st-century arms race. The Poseidon, powered by a compact nuclear reactor, can reportedly travel thousands of miles underwater at high speeds and to extreme depths, carrying a warhead up to two megatons - 133 times more powerful than the bomb dropped on Hiroshima.
