The Poet: May Sarton, “Now I Become Myself”; "The Work of Happiness"

“Now I Become Myself”

“Now I become myself. It’s taken
Time, many years and places,
I have been dissolved and shaken,
Worn other people’s faces,
Run madly, as if Time were there,
Terribly old, crying a warning,
“Hurry, you will be dead before -”
(What? Before you reach the morning?
or the end of the poem, is clear?
Or love safe in the walled city?)
Now to stand still, to be here,
Feel my own weight and density!
Now there is time and Time is young.
O, in this single hour I live
All of myself and do not move,
I, the pursued, who madly ran,
Stand still, stand still, and stop the Sun!”

"The Work of Happiness: May Sarton’s Stunning
Poem About Being at Home in Yourself"
By Maria Popova

"In a culture predicated on the perpetual pursuit of happiness, as if it were a fugitive on the loose, it can be hard to discern what having happiness actually feels like, how it actually lives in us. Willa Cather came consummately close in her definition of happiness as the feeling of being “dissolved into something complete and great” - a definition consonant with Iris Murdoch’s lovely notion of unselfing. And yet happiness is equally a matter of how we inhabit the self - how we make ourselves at home in our own singular lives, in the dwelling-places of our own experience.

That is what May Sarton (May 3, 1912–July 16, 1995), who has written so movingly about unhappiness and its cure, explores in her poem “The Work of Happiness,” included in her indispensable Collected Poems: 1930–1993 (public library).
"The Work Of Happiness"
Read by Maria Popova

"I thought of happiness, how it is woven
Out of the silence in the empty house each day
And how it is not sudden and it is not given
But is creation itself like the growth of a tree.
No one has seen it happen, but inside the bark
Another circle is growing in the expanding ring.
No one has heard the root go deeper in the dark,
But the tree is lifted by this inward work
And its plumes shine, and its leaves are glittering.

So happiness is woven out of the peace of hours
And strikes its roots deep in the house alone:
The old chest in the corner, cool waxed floors,
White curtains softly and continually blown
As the free air moves quietly about the room;
A shelf of books, a table, and the white-washed wall —
These are the dear familiar gods of home,
And here the work of faith can best be done,
The growing tree is green and musical.

For what is happiness but growth in peace,
The timeless sense of time when furniture
Has stood a life’s span in a single place,
And as the air moves, so the old dreams stir
The shining leaves of present happiness?
No one has heard thought or listened to a mind,
But where people have lived in inwardness
The air is charged with blessing and does bless;
Windows look out on mountains and the walls are kind.

Complement with Bertrand Russell on the secret of happiness and Kurt Vonnegut on the one word it comes down to, then revisit Sarton’s poem “Meditation in Sunlight” and her magnificent ode to solitude."

“Life, Explained To You”

“Life, Explained To You”
Author Unknown

“On the first day God created the dog. God said, “Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years.” The dog said, “That’s too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I’ll give you back the other ten.” So God agreed.

On the second day God created the monkey. God said, “Entertain people, do monkey tricks and make them laugh. I’ll give you a twenty-year life span.” The monkey said, “Monkey tricks for twenty years? I don’t think so. Dog gave you back ten, so that’s what I’ll do too, okay?” And God agreed.

On the third day God created the cow. “You must go to the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves, and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years.” The cow said, “That’s kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty and I’ll give back the other forty.” And God agreed again.

On the fourth day God created man. God said, “Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. I’ll give you twenty years.” Man said, “What? Only twenty years? Tell you what, I’ll take my twenty, and the forty the cow gave back, and the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back, that makes eighty, okay?” “Okay,” said God, “You’ve got a deal.”

So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, and enjoy ourselves; the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family; the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren; and the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone.”
“Life has now been explained to you.”

"In These Downbeat Times..."

"In these downbeat times, we need as much hope and courage as we do vision and analysis; we must accent the best of each other even as we point out the vicious effects of our racial divide and pernicious consequences of our maldistribution of wealth and power. We simply cannot live in the twenty-first century at each other's throats, even as we acknowledge the weighty forces of racism, patriarchy, economic inequality, homophobia, and ecological abuse on our necks. We are at a crucial crossroad in the history of this nation - and we either hang together by combating these forces that divide and degrade us or we hang separately. Do we have the intelligence, humor, imagination, courage, tolerance, love, respect, and will to meet the challenge? Time will tell. None of us alone can save the nation or world. But each of us can make a positive difference if we commit ourselves to do so."
- Cornel West

"He Cannot Help Doubting Himself..."

"A person who has not been completely alienated, who has remained sensitive and able to feel, who has not lost the sense of dignity, who is not yet for sale, who can still suffer over the suffering of others, who has not acquired fully the having mode of existence briefly, a person who has remained a person and not become a thing, cannot help feeling lonely, powerless, isolated in present-day society. He cannot help doubting himself and his own convictions, if not his sanity."

"How It Really Is"

Greg Hunter, "LA More Than Insurrection, It’s Bolshevik Revolution"

"LA More Than Insurrection, It’s Bolshevik Revolution"
by Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com

"Renowned attorney Larry Klayman predicted on USAWatchdog months ago that there would be full-blown, legal civil war happening in the court system. With 272 cases and counting filed against the Trump Administration, that prediction has proven spot-on. Klayman also predicted months ago that violence from the “rabid Left” would not only increase but “explode.” The LA riots prove another bullseye for Klayman. What Klayman is seeing is far more than some violent protests on the West Coast. Klayman warns, “This is a very dire period. We knew this was coming. This is more than an insurrection, this is a Bolshevik style revolution. It’s not just Bolsheviks, but it’s every conceivable leftist radical group. This is financed, undoubtedly, by people like George Soros. Karen Bass is a DEI affirmative action mayor in Los Angeles. She was going to be Biden’s second choice to be vice president, God forbid. They are using her. The Left is using her, and they are using Newsom and others. They want there to be some kind of tragedy in LA. They want there to be some kind of Kent State where someone gets killed. They want one of these protesters to be killed by the National Guard or by the military. This will be a flash point to carry forth this Bolshevik revolution. They want to take this county down to ground zero. This is what they are trying to do. They want to destabilize the country and bring these radicals out.”

Klayman goes on to say, “There is, undoubtedly, foreign money involved probably from communist China, Iran and North Korea. There is probably money coming from the Left with Soros and others. They want this country at a point that is destroyed, and then they take control. That is their motivation. That is what happened in Russia when they had the Bolshevik Revolution. That’s what happened in China with Mao. This is a plan. This is a playbook. This is why we need to push back, and that is why President Trump needs to crush this right now to make an example of this. Frankly, he should have Governor Newsom arrested, and he should have Karen Bass arrested. They are inciting violence, and they are fomenting revolution. We are under attack, and President Trump needs to declare martial law.”

Klayman says the riots in LA are not a sign of Trumps failure as a President, but it is a sign of his success. Klaman explains, “They are making their move. We predicted this several months ago. It was just a matter of time, and it built and built and built, and now they see Trump, regardless of these judges,  and they see Trump is at the point of possibly succeeding. So, they are going to do a number on the President of the United States. Iran is not going to give way, and they are going to continue to enrich uranium. They know, ultimately, we will be backed into a corner, and we are going to have to attack them. This is a last-ditch effort to try to eliminate President Trump and try to weaken our country before that occurs.”

Klayman says the so-called autopen scandal of the Biden Administration will reveal that pardons were sold by staff. Klayman contends this is something Trump did not do in office the first term or this term. Klayman says, “The whole system is corrupt. It is a pay-to-play system. The American people were sold out. I doubt there was not much of anything that was approved by Joe Biden.”

In closing, Klayman says, “This is a do or die life experience. Today it’s LA, tomorrow it’s going to be coming to your hometown and your neighborhood.” There is more in the 43-minute interview.

"Putin’s Address In English; ‘One More NATO Trigger, And We’ll…’:
 Russia’s Chilling Nuclear Threat"
"In a chilling escalation, President Vladimir Putin declared that Russia holds the world’s most advanced nuclear arsenal, warning NATO and the West of its unmatched power. At a high-level meeting, Putin demanded “special attention” be given to expanding Russia’s deadly nuclear triad - land, sea, and air-based delivery systems designed to survive any first strike. His fiery rhetoric signals a bold threat to global stability, as Moscow positions itself as an unshakable nuclear force. The message is clear: Russia is ready - and the world should be on edge."

"It's Over! The U.S. Budget Deficit Skyrockets And The Dollar Is Cratering"

"It's Over! The U.S. Budget Deficit Skyrockets
 And The Dollar Is Cratering"

"Every empire/nation that has fallen has followed this same pattern which I am going to outline for you here. As prosperity fades, the people turn on each other. This sows division and hatred. Division weakens the nation further, while the rulers grow richer in the chaos. A nation at war with itself cannot stand.

Massive debt is created to fund corruption. Money is printed to cover lies. The rich rob the poor through inflation. The government steals the people’s future to sustain its power. The collapse of the currency is the physical symptom of the disease. And you are watching it now, deficits exploding, the dollar dying. Then the nation devours itself from within.

The final stage before collapse is cannibalism of the system. Institutions collapse. Corruption eats through every level of government. The debt spiral accelerates beyond control. Trust in leadership vanishes. The middle class is wiped out. The nation eats itself alive trying to preserve the illusion of power, but the more it consumes, the weaker it becomes. Then the empire/nation devours itself from within. This is where America is right now, and you are seeing this in real time.

Ready for more propaganda? Today’s new headline:
Let’s break this one down. Another Babylon two-faced headline pure control by contradiction, classic formula.

Producer Prices “rise less than expected.” See everyone, inflation is under control!" (FALSE)
Jobless claims hit an 8-month high, "But pay no attention to this it’s a temporary blip!" (FALSE)

They headline the Producer Prices "less than expected" to keep markets soothed. But less than expected still means it’s rising. Why? This gives the illusion that the Fed can manage rates, and inflation is no big deal.

Next… Bury the negative reality. Jobless claims up 8-month high = deteriorating labor market. This is major, rising claims mean businesses are laying off, cutting costs. The reality? On Earth? Producer prices continue to climb, supply chains are under stress. Rising jobless claims confirm that underlying demand is falling and businesses are bracing for slowdown. The system is shrinking by their own numbers. Inflation is not conquered, costs are still rising. The job market is now visibly deteriorating. (And the lie will be maintained as long as possible). So, expect that economic data contradictions will now become more frequent and more absurd from here."

Bill Bonner, "Another Brick in the Wall"

"Another Brick in the Wall"
by Bill Bonner

“All I do is run the country - well.”
- Donald Trump

Youghal, Ireland - "MAGA forces are up against a brick wall of unrelenting reality. No free lunches. No easy fixes. And no non-problem that can’t be turned into a real problem with the forceful application of a MAGA solution. We remind ourselves that the empire is slipping...and has been for the last 25 years. Donald Trump was elected to try to turn it around. If he were to succeed, it would change the Primary Trend, which would cause us to change our long-term investment outlook. So, as if gleaning through a dumpster for a half-eaten sandwich, we keep studying the Trump agenda, looking for something we missed.

So far, nary a crust. Donald Trump’s pensée is win-lose xenophobia; there are problems everywhere...and every one of them is caused by someone else. In order to win, we need to make him lose. Without so many immigrants in the labor pool, for example, wages for US citizens would rise. And without so many imports, made by foreigners, consumers would Buy American. Then, sales, profits, and jobs - furnished by US-based companies - would increase. Such a simple problem. So ready for a solution.

What to do? Just round them up - the ‘illegals.’ Send in the ICE...all suited out in battle gear. Deport those lawbreaking SOBs. And ban immigration from the places we don’t like. Trump plans to deport ten million ‘illegals.’ He’s got $70 billion in the Big, Beautiful Budget Abomination (BBBA) set aside for that purpose.

Hold on...here’s brick number one. ABC with more math: A new report from the American Immigration Council, an immigration rights research and policy firm, estimates that to deport even one million undocumented immigrants a year would cost over $88 billion dollars annually, for a total of $967.9 billion over more than ten years. That’s nearly $100,000 for each deportee…and a trillion dollars to be added to US debt. Is that a good investment? Fortune:"According to a Deutsche Bank analysis of data from U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, the number of encounters at the Southwest border has plunged to 12,000 people per month since Trump’s inauguration from an average of 200,000 during the year-and-a-half period between January 2022 and June 2024."

Remember, the pool of homegrown labor is stagnant. There has been no increase in the number of jobs going to native born workers in the last five years. Without the foreigners, the US economy would scarcely have grown at all.

Remember too that the ‘we think, they sweat’ vanity took root in US soil more than twenty years ago. Now, it covers the ground. So, who among our ‘thinkers’ will do the work that these ten million sweaty immigrants were doing? Maybe, someone who just got a degree in DEI counseling from a local university? Or someone who just got out of jail and decided to go straight?

American consumers will have to pay to deport someone and then pay more for someone else to do what he had been doing. Not only that. The Democrats’ ‘Joint Economic Committee’ tried to tally the costs. Its conclusions: Depending on how many immigrants are deported, these mass deportations would:

• Reduce real gross domestic product (GDP) by as much as 7.4% by 2028
• Cause labor shortages in key industries, removing 225,000 workers in agriculture and 1.5 million workers in construction
• Push prices up to 9.1% higher by 2028, and
• Cost 44,000 U.S.-born workers their jobs for every half a million immigrants who are removed from the labor force.

What are those estimates worth? Probably not much. But if you stop foreigners from depressing wages in the US, they’ll depress wages back at home. And then…brick number two: As prices for American-made products go up, foreign made products become more attractive! In other words, by getting rid of millions of low-wage workers in the US, lower-wage economies overseas will have a larger price advantage...and Americans actually have an incentive to NOT Buy American.

Those damned foreigners! Ripping us off again. As of last year, about $25 trillion worth of merchandise was crossing borders every twelve months...at tariff charges averaging below 3%. But Team Trump sees trade deficits heading toward $1 trillion per year; they’re ‘ripping us off,’ they say

The solution is obvious - impose tariffs... trade barriers... right? Importers can ‘eat’ the extra charges, right? Maybe for a little while. But soon, sellers will restore their margins by raising prices. Then, the ‘tariff tax’ will be included in the prices that US consumers pay. And with less purchasing power, Americans will be poorer.

But wait, here’s another brick in the wall: Reducing trade deficits also means reducing the number of US dollars that end up in foreign hands. Those dollars are typically recycled into US bonds. That’s the way the fake money model works. The US ‘prints’ the money. Americans borrow it. They buy foreign-made products (often better or cheaper than their Made-in-America competitors). And then the overseas dollars are used to buy US debt.

It was always a scam...but it helped fund US deficits, keep interest rates low and US asset prices high. And now, the Trump troupe makes it even scammier. We’ll see where it leads. Stay tuned."

"Farmers Close Down Production In U.S. As Agricultural Crisis Accelerates"

Epic Economist, 6/11/25
"Farmers Close Down Production
In U.S. As Agricultural Crisis Accelerates"

"What we're witnessing isn't just another agricultural downturn – it's the systematic collapse of the most powerful food production system the world has ever known. From the cornfields of Iowa to the wheat plains of Kansas, from the soybean farms of Illinois to the cattle ranches of Texas, American farmers are making a decision that will shake the global food supply to its core: they're shutting down. This isn't a strike. This isn't a protest. This is survival. And the consequences are already rippling through every grocery store, every restaurant, every dinner table in America and beyond.

Three weeks ago, what started as routine border inspections became the spark that ignited a powder keg decades in the making. At the Laredo and Nogales border crossings, over 140 John Deere tractors and harvesting machines sat baking under the scorching sun – not because of bureaucratic delays, but because of a calculated blockade targeting America's most iconic agricultural equipment manufacturer.

While competitors like Case IH and Kubota sailed through with minimal delays, John Deere faced what Mexican customs officials euphemistically called "enhanced agricultural equipment inspection protocols." But this was no routine check. This was surgical warfare, timed perfectly to disrupt Mexico's critical planting season just weeks away.

For farmers who had prepaid for equipment, watching their machinery trapped mere meters away across an invisible line, this wasn't just an inconvenience – it was catastrophic. In Sinaloa, Eduardo Vasquez stared helplessly at 5,000 acres of unplanted land, his fully paid $300,000 tractor unreachable across the border. Time was bleeding away, and with it, an entire season's livelihood. But this border blockade was just the match. The real explosives had been accumulating for years."

"Big, beautiful spiral galaxy NGC 1055 is a dominant member of a small galaxy group a mere 60 million light-years away toward the aquatically intimidating constellation Cetus. Seen edge-on, the island universe spans over 100,000 light-years, a little larger than our own Milky Way galaxy. The colorful, spiky stars decorating this cosmic portrait of NGC 1055 are in the foreground, well within the Milky Way. But the telltale pinkish star forming regions are scattered through winding dust lanes along the distant galaxy's thin disk.

With a smattering of even more distant background galaxies, the deep image also reveals a boxy halo that extends far above and below the central bulge and disk of NGC 1055. The halo itself is laced with faint, narrow structures, and could represent the mixed and spread out debris from a satellite galaxy disrupted by the larger spiral some 10 billion years ago."

"Palantir: The Intersection of Government and Corporate Power"

"Palantir: The Intersection of
Government and Corporate Power"

"International Man: Palantir is a data analytics and AI company known for its work with governments, particularly in defense, intelligence, and law enforcement. Critics argue it enables mass surveillance, predictive policing, and military applications. A significant portion of its revenue comes from classified government contracts, and some allege ties to the Deep State. What is your perspective on Palantir?

Doug Casey: When Palantir was founded in 2003, all the initial funding came from Peter Theil and In-Q-Tel, an investment arm of the CIA. The US government and its agencies are by far its biggest customers, along with foreign governments and large corporations. Its revenues have grown around 40% annually since it went public in 2020.

The nature of Palantir’s clientele underlines what I've been saying about fascism as an economic system: Almost every country in the world is fascist - the economic system characterized by a total melding of the interests of government and large corporations. Remember that Benito Mussolini coined the word “fascism” and defined it to mean the integration of the State with privately owned business. It’s different from socialism, where the State owns the means of production.

Fascism makes it possible for businessmen to become wealthy by catering primarily to the needs of the State, as opposed to the public. Corporations, by their nature, focus on creating wealth. That wealth becomes available to their shareholders, their managers, the State, and the apparatchiks in government who help the corporation. Fascism is naturally much more efficient than socialism, which always and inevitably generates losses. While fascism can look like capitalism, its prime interest is serving the State - not serving either consumers or workers. Palantir is the Platonic ideal of a fascist business. It caters exclusively to the State and large corporations, to manipulate the public.

International Man: If Palantir's viability relies heavily on government contracts and support, can it genuinely be classified as a legitimate private enterprise?

Doug Casey: In the Constitution, State intervention in the economy is justified with just a few words in Article 1, Section 8. The Commerce Clause gives Congress the power "to regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes."And the General Welfare Clause, which grants Congress “the power to lay and collect taxes to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States."It’s quite a leap from those little clauses to the government essentially controlling the entire economy. Companies like Palantir rely on the government and big business - not the people - for their revenue.

Palantir has grown like a cancer since its founding, but that growth has really metastasized under Trump. That’s rationalized by the fact that, if the US is going to round up the 10 or 20 million migrants who are in the US illegally, it needs to find out who they are. So Trump strongly supports “REAL ID,"which facilitates the government knowing exactly who everybody is, where they came from, where they live and work, who they associate with, and everything else about them. That will make it easy to extract the migrants from society. Everyone’s “papers” must be in order. But to do this, legitimate Americans will need the same ID.

The very name of the company, Palantir, is a tip-off. In Tolkien’s "Lord of the Rings," the Palantir is a stone that allows the viewer to see everything about the past, present, and future. You couldn’t hide from it. Peter Thiel chose that name for a reason.

That’s what the company is supposed to do: integrate data from everywhere. Right now, the data of government agencies is basically siloed. What one agency or department knows is not readily available to another. But Palantir will integrate and centralize all of it, plus everything they can scrape from corporate and other private data banks. This is extremely dangerous. Super dangerous. This thing is going to be a truly all-seeing eye.

Does Trump understand this? Or is he just a thoughtless useful idiot? Once the infrastructure for integrating all government data, plus what they can scrape from the internet, corporations, public cameras, cell phones, and you-name-it is in place, it’s pretty much game over.

Even if the Trump regime doesn’t use it in a genuinely nefarious way, as the Democrats claim he will, there’s no guarantee that the next president won’t use it. In fact, it’s almost certain the next president will. Once you have a tool, you use it. Anyway, the Deep State has a life of its own, independent of the two parties. The data that Palantir is putting together will definitively centralize political and economic power within the Washington Beltway.

International Man: The Israel Defense Forces use Palantir's AI to identify and target locations in Gaza, the US Department of Defense employs it for drone surveillance analysis, and the Los Angeles Police Department has adopted Palantir's predictive policing tools to forecast crime trends. And Palantir is creating a Federal database on American citizens. Where is this going?

Doug Casey: It’s most regrettable, but also inevitable. That’s because anything that can be imagined - including dystopian things predicted by science fiction - can probably be done in the real world. Anything that can be done probably will be done. And now that the technology exists, it is, in fact, being done.

Palantir is centralizing all the data in society. And with the growth of the State taking an increasingly large percentage of GDP - from perhaps 5% 125 years ago to close to 50% today - we're well on our way toward becoming a police state. Newton’s First Law of Motion states that an object in motion tends to stay in motion. This trend has been in motion for many years, and it’s accelerating.

This is the perverse thing about DOGE, the Department of Governmental Efficiency, which seemed like a good idea at the time. It’s the tyranny of good intentions. Cutting waste seems like a good thing. But the State, as an institution, corrupts everything it touches. When it's tending toward tyranny, efficiency is the last thing you want.

Companies like Palantir are changing the very nature of the US. In years past, if you made a mistake that damaged your reputation, you could go to a new town and try again. But now, anything on your permanent electronic record is with you forever. We may devolve into a high-tech version of the Hindu caste system, where once you’re classified in a certain way, that’s where you stay.

Palantir will make it easy to identify libertarians, classical liberals, free thinkers, and other potential enemies of the State. You’d better be careful about what you say. It may be why journalist Glenn Greenwald prefers to live in Brazil. His writing has proved embarrassing to the Powers That Be, and he may not want to be easily available when AI, aided by Palantir’s data bank, decides to round up the usual suspects. This is why I’ve said, for years, that a prudent person will diversify as the US, the Anglosphere, and Western Europe devolve.

Will Americans soon be classed by risk, the way Palantir has classed Gazans? The total information awareness that Palantir will give the government will certainly help them find some bad guys. But who’s a bad guy can be very arbitrary, as many people in England and Germany who are being jailed for what impresses me as innocuous speech are discovering.

International Man: Peter Thiel, a co-founder of Palantir, often presents himself as a libertarian. However, his actions and true allegiance appear to align with the Deep State and secretive international organizations like Bilderberg. What about Thiel?

Doug Casey: It's clear that Thiel has a thorough intellectual understanding of the principles of libertarianism. But it doesn't appear that he's translated intellectual understanding into the world of what's moral, what's right or wrong. It's long been said that power corrupts, and Thiel, who is said to be worth over $20 billion at this point, has an immense amount of both financial and political power.

Perhaps he reasons that this technology has a life of its own. I certainly think it does. If so, it's going to grow almost independent of who is involved. After all, that's what Artificial Intelligence and its immense data centers are all about; they're almost independent entities at this point. Perhaps Thiel thinks that, since it's going to happen anyway, it's better that it be under the control of the quote-unquote "good guys"as opposed to someone else.

I can understand that, but it's fallacious reasoning. It didn’t matter whether the Sorcerer’s Apprentice was a good guy. The Deep State, which will control Palantir, is itself out of control. I don't think there's any way we can put the genie back in the bottle. It augurs for a dystopian future.

International Man: Palantir's market capitalization has skyrocketed from about $50 billion a year ago to approximately $300 billion today, surpassing the valuations of major companies like Coca-Cola and General Electric. What are your thoughts on this extraordinary growth, and what are the investment implications?

Doug Casey: That’s shocking and perverse. Coke and GE have been around for a century, producing valuable products that people want and need. Palantir has products that are actively destructive, but the market loves it. Lenin was right when he said that the capitalists would sell their enemies the ropes used to hang them.

Let's look at Palantir both as a company and as a stock. Since it went public in 2020, it's run from $10 a share to $135 a share. Its current price-to-earnings ratio is 500-1, and its price-to-sales ratio is 100-1 - these are outlandish numbers. It does a billion or two billion shares a day in volume. This is fantastic growth, but what's really interesting is that the stock took off in June of 2024. It's gone up about six or seven times in just a year. What’s disturbing is that most of the move coincides with the election of Donald Trump.

The stock is grossly overpriced by all traditional parameters. But its valuation shows that the market believes its business will keep growing rapidly. It can go a lot higher; it could be the next Nvidia. I don't want any part of it for lots of reasons, not least that its success is a proxy for the collapse of personal freedom and Western Civilization. Of course, here I'm not speaking as a speculator but as a moralist… sorry, sometimes it just can't be helped… On the bright side, there's an old saying in the market: "High tech equals big wreck."So perhaps the evil thing will self-destruct.

The Praetorian agencies of the US government are all about gathering data. They use it, directly and indirectly, not just to control the public in general, but powerful individuals in particular. They’re able to control the leaders of both governments and corporations. If they know something about you, they can use that information to intimidate you. And if you aren’t intimidated, they can use it to ruin your life.

So, the wrong people, the kind of people who are drawn to agencies like the CIA, NSA, IRS, FBI, and a score of others, have control of all the data and all the power. They're not good people, and they won't use all this data, money, and power in benevolent ways.

So, be afraid. Be very afraid. The warning about Palantir isn’t just philosophical - it’s a flashing red light for what’s coming next: the merger of unchecked state power with surveillance capitalism, turbocharged by AI. The deeper you dig, the clearer it becomes - we’re entering a new era of control, crisis, and consequence."

"Who Has Been Spending Enormous Amounts Of Money To Equip The Protesters In Los Angeles With Brand New Riot Gear?"

"Who Has Been Spending Enormous Amounts Of Money To
Equip The Protesters In Los Angeles With Brand New Riot Gear?"
by Michael Snyder

"If the protests in Los Angeles are supposed to be peaceful, why is brand new riot gear being trucked in and given to the protesters? And why isn’t this making front page news all over the country? First of all, protesters only need riot gear if riots are going to break out. Secondly, it is becoming clear that someone purchased large quantities of riot gear in advance. So who funded those purchases, and who knew that riots would erupt in Los Angeles at this specific time? If corporate news outlets in this country were still employing real journalists, those are the types of questions that those journalists would be asking.

As Eric Daugherty has accurately pointed out, Fox News actually captured footage of “bionic shields” that normally cost 60 dollars each being handed out to rioters on the streets of Los Angeles…"PAID-FOR “bionic shields” are being trucked in for the Los Angeles rioters. These cost around $60, each…and there are BOXES and BOXES of them being handed out. “That’s not the kind of thing that you buy in bulk if you don’t plan on doing something with it…”

They are planning for a CLASH. This an enormous scandal. Why aren’t more people talking about this? According to Newsweek, the “bionic shields” were being handed out by two women as “a masked driver waited for them to unload the goods”…"TV cameras have captured boxes of “bionic shields” being distributed to protesters in Los Angeles on Monday. Footage of the scene showed boxes of solid, full-face masks - almost akin to helmets - being handed out from the back of a pickup truck by two women while a masked driver waited for them to unload the goods.

The footage has sparked concerns among some that external agitators are facilitating riots by equipping crowds for potential clashes with the police or National Guard. However, others say the masks are safety gear, worn as a precaution after protesters were injured by rubber bullets that the authorities fired.

So where did all of these “bionic shields” suddenly come from? Did someone order them from Amazon? Of course not. Obviously, someone already had large quantities of these “bionic shields” on hand. Needless to say, that has enormous implications. Were these “bionic shields” purchased in advance for pre-planned protests that were scheduled to erupt this month? We really need an answer to that question.

And as Fox anchor Elex Michaelson has pointed out, we also need to know who is funding all of this…"Fox LA anchor Elex Michaelson wrote on X, formerly Twitter: “We just saw people arrive in Downtown L.A. with truck loads of Bionic Face Shields that demonstrators quickly grabbed. It certainly seems like gear you’d wear if you’re preparing for conflict with police. Who is funding this?”

There is also concern about a Craigslist advertisement for “extremely tough, brave men” that was recently posted. Was someone trying to recruit paid agitators? Snopes cannot determine if the ad is connected to the riots in any way, but even they were forced to admit that the ad “was real”…"On June 9, 2025, screenshots of an actual Craigslist advertisement seeking “extremely tough, brave men” for $6,500 to $12,500 per week began circulating on social media. Users on X posted the screenshots as “proof” that ongoing Los Angeles immigration protests were “orchestrated and well-funded chaos.”

The social media posts gained significant traction, with one example on X receiving 267,200 views and another garnering 374,300 views as of this writing. The ad itself was real - in the sense that it was indeed posted on losangeles.craigslist.org at 1:20 p.m. PT on June 5, 2025 - one day before the immigration protests began in Los Angeles. An almost identical ad was posted on austin.craigslist.org just 37 minutes later at 1:57 p.m. PT.

If authorities want to get to the root cause of the problems that we are witnessing in Los Angeles, they need to find out where the funding for the protests is originating. At this stage, there is a lot of speculation about three specific organizations…"When anti-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agitators took to the streets in the Los Angeles area over the weekend attacking officers, setting cars on fire, and looting, they drew attention to the left-leaning activist groups that may have helped instigate the riots.

Three major organizations have come under increased scrutiny: the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, Los Angeles; the Party for Socialism and Liberation; and the Service Employees International Union. One of these groups, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, Los Angeles, has received millions in government funding.

In the case of CHIRLA, we know that they have been getting showered with taxpayer money in recent years…"Citing an investigative X thread from DataRepublican, Liz says that of a “number of NGOs [that] have been implicated, foremost is Coalition for Humane Immigration Rights [of Los Angeles], or CHIRLA.”

According to DataRepublican, “$34 million of [CHIRLA’s] reported $45 million in revenue are from government grants,” meaning taxpayer dollars are being used to pay the people who are setting fire to cop cars and hurling concrete slabs at federal agents. During the Biden administration specifically, CHIRLA’s revenue “jumped from $12 million to $34 million in government grants.” “The Joe Biden administration knew exactly who they wanted to give money to in order to set up situations like these riots in California,” says Liz.

Of course these organizations are funded by other sources as well, but it should deeply upset all of us that our tax dollars are being used for such purposes. The corporate media keeps telling us that the protests are “mostly peaceful”, but meanwhile a horrifying crime spree has broken out in downtown Los Angeles…"Rioters in downtown Los Angeles looted a prominent Apple store amid protests against ICE raids in the city. Images from the scene show rioters in hoodies and masks ransacking the store Monday night. Dozens of people can be seen throughout the property before at least one individual began breaking a window in order to escape from the side of the building.

President Trump is determined to do whatever it takes to restore order. In fact, on Tuesday he warned that he could even invoke the Insurrection Act if that becomes necessary…"President Donald Trump flirted with invoking the Insurrection Act in Los Angeles as he tore into ‘bad people’ and ‘animals’ he said brought the city to the verge of burning down. The president defended his decision to send 700 U.S. Marines as well as California National Guard to Los Angeles, and brushed off California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s claim that the deployment inflamed the situation. And he would not rule out use of an authority to deploy military forces under his control to put down disturbances if he sees fit."

We were warned in advance that this sort of civil unrest would be coming. Now it is here. The Democrats have been preparing for this summer for a long time. Now the chaos that they have been plotting is starting to be unleashed, and it is going to tear our country apart."

"The Legume Revolution"

"The Legume Revolution"

"Since Trump arrived for a second turn at the wheel, everyone has been wondering when the Blob would make its move against him. The one thing we know about these people is they never take no for an answer. Every setback is met with a new round of schemes against their enemies. The relatively muted response to this point has had many people scratching their heads. The invader riots in Los Angeles that are spreading to other cities appear to be the long-awaited response.

At this point, it is clear that the Los Angeles riot is synthetic. The internet is full of images and videos showing professionally trained rioters. For example, whenever you see college aged white girls with whistles at one of these things, you know the army of not-for-profits has their people on the ground training protestors. The whistle is a common, low-tech item for professional protestors. It is often used to alert the lawyers stationed at the protest to come to the area.

There is also the fact that the mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, was on the board of the National Endowment for Democracy. This is one of the main hubs of the Blob, primarily used to stage color revolutions around the world. When Bass was in Congress she was on a committee that had the job of overseeing NED, while she was also their most senior board member. Of course, the color revolution queen, Victoria Nuland, is currently a senior Blob person at NED.

It appears that the plan is to replay the Summer of Floyd, but this time with little brown guys as the fig leaf for the project. The George Floyd riots were also a manufactured crisis, organized by white activists. They caught fire and became a series of race riots, where blacks burned down their own neighborhoods, but the general operation was run out of Washington. This time they are trying get the migrants and brown activists worked up into a ghetto riot.

That is looking to be a problem for a number of reasons. One is the scenes of masked men waving Mexican flags while standing on burned out cars was obviously a repeat of the scenes of blacks standing on destroyed police cars. For some reason, the people involved think this is good politics. It is bad politics because it is bad optics. In this case, it highlights the fact that our rulers abetted an invasion. Seeing foreigners celebrate in American cities like this just hardens attitudes toward immigration.

The other problem they have, and it is clear from the videos, is that the immigrants are not willing to riot like blacks. Legal immigrants are in favor and tough measures against illegals and the illegals have no interest in making it easier to get grabbed by the police and put on a bus back home. That leaves the rioting to the twenty-something white losers the Blob relies on as foot soldiers. Now, the blacks are taking advantage of the opportunity and looting the sneaker stores.

Perhaps the biggest problem for the Blob this time is the world has wised up to the color revolution rackets. Lately, they keep failing because everyone understands that these things are not organic. The authorities focus on the support networks in the same way you would attack an army’s supply lines. That was what we saw in the Caucasian country of Georgia last year. The government thwarted the Blob by going after the foreign networks operating inside the country.

The Trump White House has learned the same lessons, which is why they went after USAID on day one. That has hampered the Blob’s ability to subvert, but the Blob has access to lots of resources besides USAID. It seems the White House anticipated this, as well, which is why they were ready for these legume riots. Note that they keep escalating whenever the Blob people make threats. The response to Los Angeles is the same escalatory dominance the Blob likes to employ.

So far, this strategy is paying off the White House. The public overwhelmingly supports a tough response to these actions. The public sees foreign men waving foreign flags in an American city, while fighting with the police. The public naturally expects the government to send in the army. The White House being ahead of the curve on this makes Trump look strong and decisive. The Blob people mewing about it look weak and dishonest, rather than self-righteous.

There is also a secondary issue here. The center of gravity on immigration has been quickly moving in the sensible direction as the public has become fed up with the invasion and more aware of the details. These riots and the Trump response has put the foot on the accelerator. Suddenly, the edgy position in normie politics is a total ban on all immigration, not just illegal immigration. Trump himself is starting to look like a squishy moderate on the immigration issue.

Of course, the thing looming over all of this is the change that occurred in the oligarch class over the last year. During the Summer of Floyd, they were happy to join in on the chaos, so they could feel like one of the folks. They were all waving the flags and chanting the chants. Things are different now and the main reason is they see in their own world the risk automation brings. The AI revolution that has captivated them has also made plain the problem of too many people.

When they think of AI, they imagined the acres of cubicles suddenly emptied out, replaced by robots in the server farm. Those coders, engineers and support people will need something to do soon. AI may turn out to be a fantasy, but it could also be a tragic turn for the oligarchs, if we suddenly have millions of unemployed smart people, wondering how they are going to pay their bills. The scenes they now see in Los Angeles could just as easily be in their neighborhood.

The Legume Revolution is just starting, so it is too soon to know how this thing will playout over the coming months. The conditions are clearly different from those leading to the Summer of Floyd. It is also clear that the Trump admin is better too. On the other hand, the Blob people are relentless. Like a drug-resistant virus, they must be completely eradicated to make sure they do not return. There is much to be done on that score, but this crisis could be a step in that direction."

Mobtown"

Youghal, Ireland - We’re not sure Francis Key Howard appreciated the delicious poetry of it. From his cell at Fort McHenry, he could look out by the dawn’s early light and see that star-spangled banner. But for the grandson of Francis Scott Key, the sight must have stuck in his craw. Just as England had to conquer Wales and Scotland before it could take on India, the US had to subdue its erring Southern states before it could attack Iraq. Both were on the path of empire; Howard was just roadkill.

We saw last week how some things are worse than losing money. Martial law may be one of them. The editor of the Baltimore Exchange was held under lock and key by an invading army. Abraham Lincoln didn’t appreciate his point of view.

Howard thought the US Constitution gave him the right to hold any opinion he wanted, even one that favored the South. He thought it also allowed free people to decide for themselves who should rule over them. And he believed that he must be entitled to defend himself in court; ‘What about habeas corpus,’ he must have muttered through bars.

Hadn’t Chief Justice Taney (a Marylander) stated very clearly that: “The privilege of the writ [habeas corpus] could not be suspended except by act of Congress...under the Constitution and laws of the United States, [the president] cannot suspend the privilege of the writ of habeas corpus, nor authorize any military officer to do so.” And yet, that’s what President Lincoln did...and when the courts found that he lacked the authority, he simply ignored them.

The ‘Civil’ War began on the streets of our hometown, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Richard Sprigg Steuart described what happened. "I happened to be in Baltimore on the night of the 19th April 1861, and witnessed the outburst of feeling on the part of the people. Generally, when the Massachusetts troops were passing through the city of Baltimore, it was evident to me that 75% of the population was in favour of repelling these troops. Instinctively the people seemed to look upon them as intruders, or as invaders of the South, not as defenders of the City of Baltimore. How or by whom the first blow was given can not be now ascertained, but the feeling of resistance was contagious and powerful." The citizens of Baltimore threw stones. The soldiers fired their guns. Blood was drawn and the war was on.

A month later, a Union general entered town and declared martial law. By September, ‘peace keeping forces’ had shut down nine newspapers and imprisoned many of Maryland’s leading citizens - editors and publishers, one of Maryland’s congressmen, Mayor George Brown and the entire City Council of Baltimore, all the state’s police commissioners along with a third of the Maryland assembly.

And today, it is the Los Angelenos who are throwing stones. The president has called up the National Guard to support his deportation program. The Defense Secretary is sending the Marines. Anyone who gets in their way may be subject to arrest.

When the US attacked Iraq, claiming it was fighting terrorism, it was just a matter of time before the terrorist fighters would be turned loose on domestic ‘terrorists.’ Then, in his “Battle for the Soul of the Nation” speech in 2022, Joe Biden - flanked by armed soldiers and blood-red background lighting - encouraged listeners to think of MAGA supporters as enemies of the nation: "Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic." Now the shoe is on the other foot. But it’s still walking in the same direction.

The aforementioned Roger B. Taney, chief justice of the Supreme Court, is widely accused of having started the ‘Civil’ War himself. His decision in the Dred Scott case over-reached to the point where he declared that people of African descent “are not included, and were not intended to be included, under the word ‘citizens’ in the Constitution, and can therefore claim none of the rights and privileges which that instrument provides for and secures to citizens of the United States.”

The decision was both extremely provocative, and not exactly truthful. Free Blacks had been included on the citizen rolls of some states and had voted in their elections. But no matter. That was the majority decision and it is the reason, among other things, that Taney’s lugubrious statue was recently removed from the park in front of our house in Baltimore.

The ‘writ’ of habeas corpus requires the government to show evidence of a crime before taking away a person’s liberty or property. Kristi Noem might not know this, but it is ancient and fundamental to the rule of law. Who doesn’t get the benefit of it today? The Wall Street Journal: "The White House Marching Orders That Sparked the L.A. Migrant Crackdown." "In late May, Stephen Miller, a top White House aide and the architect of the president’s immigration agenda, addressed a meeting at the headquarters of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, known as ICE. The message was clear: The president, who promised to deport millions of immigrants living in the country illegally, wasn’t pleased. The agency had better step it up.

Agents didn’t need to develop target lists of immigrants suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, a longstanding practice, Miller said. Instead, he directed them to target Home Depot, where day laborers typically gather for hire, or 7-Eleven convenience stores. Miller bet that he and a handful of agents could go out on the streets of Washington, D.C., and arrest 30 people right away."

And so, the ICE agents went forth, over all the land. Masked and armed, but without arrest warrants, they ignored habeas corpus and rounded them up – thousands of them. What did the immigrants do wrong? Nobody knows; no charges were filed; no court heard the evidence. “Another flight every day,” said Tom Homan, US ‘border czar,’ whatever that is. “We are not stopping. I don't care what the judges think.” Asked if Homan should arrest California Gavin Newsom, Donald Trump replied: “I'd do it if I were Tom...Gavin likes the publicity, but I think it would be a great thing.”
