"The Story Of Man..."

“The sands of time blew into a storm of images... images in sequence to tell the truth! Glorious legends of revolutionaries, bound only by a desire to be true to themselves, and to hope! Parables of colliding worlds, of forbidden love, of enemies healing the wounds of circumstance! Projected myth of persecution through greed and selfishness... and the will to survive! The Will to survive! And to survive in the face of those who claim credit for your very existence! We survive not as pawns, but as agents of hope. Sometimes misunderstood, but always true to our story. The story of Man."
- Scott Morse
Vangelis, "Alpha"
This song always suggested the image of our relentless, idealized, noble, glorious March of Mankind through the ages. Despite it all, despite ourselves, we survive and march onward towards our unknown destiny.

Still, some wonder about our true nature as a species, as the Apex Predator of this planet, as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle did when he asked,“What can we know? What are we all? Poor silly half-brained things peering out at the infinite, with the aspirations of angels and the instincts of beasts.”

Indeed, Angelic aspirations regardless, the historical record suggests a less benevolent but far more accurate and truthful view of the instincts of beasts within Humanity...
Steve Cutts, "MAN"
“What a chimera then is man, what a novelty, what a monster, what chaos, what a subject of contradiction, what a prodigy! Judge of all things, yet an imbecile earthworm; depository of truth, yet a sewer of uncertainty and error; pride and refuse of the universe. Who shall resolve this tangle?”
- Blaise Pascal

"Pride and refuse," indeed...

The Poet: W.H. Auden, "September 1, 1939"

 "September 1, 1939"

"Defenseless
under the night
Our world in stupor lies;
Yet, dotted everywhere,
Ironic points of light
Flash out
wherever the Just
Exchange their messages:
May I, composed like them
Of Eros and of dust,
Beleaguered by the same
Negation and despair,
Show an affirming flame."
- W.H. Auden

On September 1, 1939 Nazi Germany invaded Poland.

Bill Bonner, "Capitalism has Failed"

"Capitalism has Failed"
Plus, dinner in Palermo, music by Piazzolla,
libations from Piattelli and plenty more...
by Bill Bonner And Joel Bowman

Salta, Argentina - "Observations from South of the Rio de la Plata…leading to observations about things north of the Rio Grande…

One of the first lessons from a wrecked economy with a 99% inflation rate is that…it’s not so bad. People still eat…smile…wear fashionable clothes…enjoy music and read books. Yes, of course, government policies are idiotic. Corruption is widespread. And everyone, trundling along on the road to ruin, gets poorer. But they don’t necessarily have a bad time.

Red Hot Pesos: There are cars and trucks on the road here, belching smoke, mufflers and bumpers falling off, that would never be permitted in a healthy economy. People live in ‘favelas’ – slums, where the houses are improvised, temporary, and unfinished. There are trash pickers, cartoneros, who survive by reselling cardboard and eating the food that has been thrown away. And many things are remarkably cheap.

It is this last feature that helps to make life agreeable. Nice apartments rent for only a half to a third as much as in the US. A cook or housekeeper, full time, costs only $100 a month. A trip across Buenos Aires costs about 1,000 pesos – or $2.50. And fuel, too, is only a fraction of the price in the US or Europe. A gallon of gas is about $1.50.

Last night, we went out to dinner in our old neighborhood, Palermo Soho. We hadn’t seen it in a couple years. But things change fast in Buenos Aires. The streets were full of people – people going to bars and restaurants…shoppers or just people out for a walk. “You have to understand,” says a friend. “People want to spend their money. Nobody saves it.”
We barely recognized the old neighborhood. The shops had changed, with new bars, restaurants, shoe stores and fashion shops on every street corner. It was bigger, with more people….and more things to do… than we recalled.

Biting the Hand that Feeds: It also seemed more woke…more ‘leftist’…and more activist. Socialism has become a fashion statement. One restaurant had a neon sign, for example, that proclaimed that “Capitalism is a failure.” Pictures of Che Guevara were almost everywhere.

We walked down the cobblestoned streets to the corner of Guruchaga and Cabrera. There, we found our favorite restaurant, the Lo de Jesus. But that too had changed. It used to be a small, corner eatery with local customers and a simple Argentine menu. But now it has spread out into the street, serving hundreds of meals – to tourists. It has become one of the city’s popular go-to restaurants. A large group of Americans sat at the table behind us. All in the 20s or 30s, most were rather nerdy looking; we guessed that they worked for Google or Facebook.

A street musician came by. A short man, dressed in black, with a white fedora, he pulled out his guitar. We feared the worst – that he would be screeching out popular tunes as we tried to talk. But we were happily surprised. He was a concert-level guitarist playing our favorite tango music – Por una Cabeza, El Dia Que Me Quieras…and a marvelous tune by Piazzolla which requires a remarkable level of skill to perform. Other diners recognized his talent too. When he was finished he was showered with 1,000 peso bills.

Disappointed by the changes in the restaurant, we were nevertheless impressed by the food – it was almost as good as ever. We ordered an elaborate selection of starters – dried ham, blood sausage, salads. These were followed by steaks, with vegetables…and 2 bottles of Piattelli wine (there were 5 of us).

We should tell you something about Piattelli. It is a winery in the Calchaqui Valley that is owned by a family from Montana. They invested a fortune creating one of the best “bodegas” (wineries) in the valley. The restaurant was superb when we went there a couple of years ago. The wine is excellent too.

The meal concluded, the check arrived. Oh no…it was for 100,000 pesos. Our first reaction was shock. We are still adapting to the monetary system. Then, we did the math. Dividing by the black market rate, the whole thing came to about $53 per person. In a non-tourist restaurant, the same meal might be half as much.

The Other Half: But numbers never tell the whole story. They leave out the most important parts. There is the price of food, but there is also the taste of it. Who puts a price on a kiss? Who calculates the value of a kind word? Who charges for the sunrise?

There are averages, but nobody lives the average life. People live in their own particular world, with a quality all its own. And the quality of a place, too, is often missed by the numbers. Stalin noted that ‘one death is a tragedy; a thousand deaths is a statistic.’ And that is the problem with Stalin’s world. It was a world of tragedies – millions of them. The misery was recorded in memories and memoirs, but not in the statistics.

That is what makes fraudsters out of world improvers, activists and central planners everywhere. They have numbers. They have statistics. But they don’t know what they’re talking about.

Here at Bonner Private Research, as long-term sufferers know, we don’t trust numbers – at least not those used to justify public policies. That’s why we rarely provide a forecast, estimate or calculation without a qualifier: “about” or “around.” Because the numbers seldom tell the truth. And the more precise the number, the bigger the lie behind it. Unpack the math – even our own – and you find assumptions, adjustments, and enough statistical wiggle for an earthworm farm. We don’t trust any number or any fact – even those we make up ourselves. So, tune in tomorrow. We’ll look at the biggest scam in statistics – GDP – and the latest fraudulent numbers from the Congressional Budget Office."

"Hasta manana."

Joel’s Note: Readers may recall the hoary adage, “it could never happen here!” You hear it whenever tales of woe from some far-flung “sh!thole” bubble to the surface of polite conversation. War in a foreign land… currency debasement in a distant country… rigged elections, brawls in parliament, suppression of basic rights, like freedom of speech or movement or right to a fair trial… always happening “over there.”

And yet… in the mid 20th Century, “to be rich like an Argentine” was another line people used to use… only, without irony. The “Paris of the South” was among the wealthiest metropolitan capitals on the planet. When Ayn Rand was looking for a bazillionare playboy for her Atlas Shrugged novel, she created Francisco d'Anconia, owner by inheritance of the world's largest copper mining operation… and the very caricature of a rich, polo-playing Argentine businessman.

It must have seemed to the denizens of the bustling city, back in the 1950s, that their standard of living would last forever. A yet, an unhurried stroll along the city’s broad avenidas and cobblestone calles, lined with umbrageous jacarandas and neo-classical mansions, many now fallen into dreary disrepair, reminds us that nothing lasts forever…That goes for political standing and economic vitality north of the Rio Grande just as it does south of the Rio de la Plata.

Last week, the US Treasury Department Issued its Financial Report of the United States Government for 2022. It was… concerning. As usual, Bonner Private Research’s macro analyst, Dan Denning, was hard on the case from his bolthole up in Laramie, WY.

"The government had a 'negative' net position of $34.1 trillion last year. Total liabilities were $39 trillion ($24 trillion marketable public debt plus almost $13 trillion federal pension and veteran benefits). Debt-to-GDP would reach 566% by 2097, based on 'current policy and the report's assumptions.' The report describes that level as 'unsustainable.'

Lastly, the present value of future social security and medicare spending is expected to exceed receipts for that spending by $75.9 trillion over the next 75 years. I believe that's what we call 'unfunded' liabilities."

Hmm… seventy-five years may seem like a long time. Surely it will be someone else's problem by then, right Dan? “Wrong. It will be a bigger problem a lot sooner.” Dan notes that, while some inflation may be “good” for reducing the real value of government debt (through financial repression), “if deficits grow faster than the decrease in real debt from inflation, you negate the benefit. And if the Fed obeys the Taylor Rule and pushes nominal yields above inflation, debtors get crucified.

“In America, we are all debtors.” What does that mean for households already struggling under rising (and still rising) mortgage rates… stubbornly non-transient consumer price inflation… and a worsening economic outlook? Financial ruin: It really can happen here..."

"What If A Nuclear Bomb Hits New York Tomorrow"
"The famous Doomsday clock shows 100 seconds before the Apocalypse. And it won’t happen because of some higher power but upon the initiative of a human being. We’ve never come so close to the edge of the abyss - nuclear war. One more step and the history of mankind is over. And unfortunately, current world problems, personal ambitions of some politicians, and a lack of desire to seek compromises between governments can make this last fatal step real. And then, the Earth will face the third world nuclear war, in which there will be no winners. Imagine that someone pressed the red button and nuclear missiles got in the air. We will show you that humanity would stand no chance."

"2/20/23: Russia is Going to War Tomorrow"

"2/20/23: Russia is Going to War Tomorrow"
By Chris Black

"TL;DR: People just don’t want to hear it, but so far, this is not a war (the Ukraine situation). From a legal point of view (for Russia), it’s a special operation with a limited reach in regards to personnel, logistics and capacity. If war is formally declared, Russia goes all-in and the Ukraine will basically be over with within a few days or so.

Now, here’s the deal: rumors are circulating on Russian telegram channels about the speech scheduled for tomorrow by president Putin, and unknown leakers from the Kremlin have confirmed these points:

– Russia will officially send an application for the annexation of Crimea and Donbass in the Russian Federation to the UN; if refused Russia will declare war on Ukraine with the objective of dissolving its government and its military at all costs, with the full employment of all its arsenal and the targeting of decision making centers.

– An immediate warning will be sent to every Ukrainian, urging all civilians to escape the country and all military personnel to defect or surrender, they will have a week (some say a month) to do so after which everyone remaining will be treated as a combatant.

– Strikes and bombardments will be announced a day in advance to allow evacuation of remaining civilians, they’re trying to do this the “moral way”, but the main objective remains the complete obliteration of Ukraine by all means, except nuclear.

The reasoning behind this development is being described as such:

– Russia doesn’t see its special military operation as a war, but as an intervention and humanitarian operation into the Ukrainian civil war.

– They would be comfortable with this situation if Ukraine didn’t receive weapons and support from NATO, they are fine with having an impoverished Ukraine trying to retake these territories as they believe it to be a non-threat, but with western help this escalates to a matter of national security

– The only way to avoid a nuclear war with the west and resolve the situation is to take control of all of Ukraine’s territory so that weapon deliveries can’t happen anymore, and the decapitation of its regime that invites those weapon shipments.

– The end goal is either annexation or federalization of Ukraine with a temporary government.

Not going to lie, all this sounds like the LARP of the century, but we’ll see in a few days what’s what. How did it come to this, you asked? Well, stick with me and find out..."

"The United States And Russia Are At War. You Do Realize How This Is Going To End, Don’t You?"

"The United States And Russia Are At War.
You Do Realize How This Is Going To End, Don’t You?"
By Michael Snyder

"Joe Biden just made a surprise visit to Kyiv during which he announced that the U.S. is going to be involved for “as long as it takes” to win the war against Russia. Meanwhile, the Russians have now pulled together far more forces than they originally invaded Ukraine with a year ago. They intend to fight for “as long as it takes” too. There are no peace negotiations and there aren’t going to be any peace negotiations. Both sides are counting on the other side to eventually back down. But what happens if both sides just keep escalating matters until a “point of no return” is reached?

After we have seen countless other world leaders visit Kyiv over the past year, Joe Biden finally mustered the courage to make the trek himself, and the mainstream media is making a really big deal out of it…"The US will back Ukraine in its fight against Russia for “as long as it takes” President Joe Biden said as he made an unannounced and symbolic visit to the capital, Kyiv. “We have every confidence you’re going to continue to prevail,” he said."

Mr Biden’s first trip to Ukraine as president came days before the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion. During his visit, Biden announced even more aid for Ukraine. But we have already given $196 billion dollars in aid to the Ukrainians…"According to the Ukrainian government, the U.S. leads all countries with $196 billion in total military, financial and humanitarian aid to Ukraine between Jan. 24, 2022 through Nov. 20, 2022."

How much more will we give them during the coming year? Sadly, the truth is that we are providing far more funding for this war than anyone else, and that includes the Ukrainians. Vast armies of foreign mercenaries are being hired using our tax dollars, and those foreign mercenaries have become more critical than ever because the Ukrainians are literally running out of warm bodies to throw into the meat grinder in eastern Ukraine.

We are also providing more weapons, more equipment and more ammunition than anyone else, but the Ukrainians are blowing through the ammo even faster than we can make it…"Inside a sprawling factory just off the President Biden Expressway in downtown Scranton, Pennsylvania, the future arsenal of Ukraine’s war effort is being forged, one red hot artillery shell at a time. Running full-tilt, as it was on a recent January morning, the Scranton Army Ammunition Plant churns out roughly 11,000 artillery shells a month. That may seem like a lot, but the Ukrainian military often fires that many shells over just a few days."

In addition, the U.S. military actually gives the Ukrainians the specific coordinates where Russian targets are located so that the Ukrainians can fire rockets that we have provided to them at those targets…"The Washington Post reported Thursday that Ukraine is reliant on coordinates provided or confirmed by the US and its allies to launch strikes using the US-provided HIMARS rocket systems, a revelation that demonstrates Washington’s deep involvement in the war.

The HIMARS is a precision-guided artillery system, one that Ukraine has employed quite a bit in its fight against Russia. One example is a January 1 HIMARS strike on a facility housing Russian forces in Donetsk that killed at least 89 Russian soldiers, one of the deadliest Ukrainian attacks of the war.

Citing three unnamed Ukrainian officials and one unnamed US official, the Post reported that Ukraine also relies on the US for targeting coordinates for similar precision weapons, including the M270 Multiple-Launch Rocket System. One senior Ukrainian official said that Ukrainian forces almost never launch strikes using these weapons without coordinates provided by US military personnel that are located at a military base in a different country in Europe."

This is our war now. No matter how much our politicians try to spin it, this has become a war between the United States and Russia. And it appears that the Russians are preparing to take things to a whole new level.

Right now, very large concentrations of Russian troops are poised to come pouring into Ukraine from the north…"Recently we had the first ever confirmation—with actual photographic evidence—of Russian force buildups on Ukraine’s border resembling those of pre-Feb. 2022. Here are satellite photos of one of them; there are reportedly such camps in Kursk and Voronezh regions, which are directly above Sumy and Kharkov oblasts of Ukraine.

To support those troops, the Russians are constructing “large field hospitals” near the Ukrainian border just like they did prior to the original invasion…"There are now several reports of large field hospitals being constructed in at least two different regions, again reminiscent of exactly what happened last time prior to the start of the SMO. And a senior lieutenant of the AFU stated that 10,000 Russian troops have amassed across the border from Sumy." There are also very large concentrations of Russian troops in the south.

I expect that the Russians will soon formally declare war against Ukraine, and any pretense of playing nice will finally be discarded. On the Ukrainian side, one official just made headlines all over the globe when he declared that “tanks will be parked on Moscow’s Red Square and that will be justice”…"Kyiv’s security chief vowed that Ukraine’s ‘tanks will be parked on Moscow’s Red Square and that will be justice’ ahead of the first anniversary of Putin’s invasion. Oleksiy Danilov, Kyiv’s National Security and Defence Council boss, called Vladimir Putin ‘Hitler’s twin’ as he reiterated Ukraine’s ambition to expel all Russian troops from its soil, including from Crimea which was annexed by Moscow in 2014."

I don’t know what sort of fantasy world he is living in, because the Russians would launch their nukes long before that ever happens. If push comes to shove, Russia will resort to nuclear war.

Here in the western world, our “experts” keep assuring us that the Russians would never actually do that. But the Russians keep making it very clear that they are quite serious about their threats…"Russia is attempting to use its nuclear threat to weaken international support for Ukraine, according to Kyiv intelligence. The official Ukrainian Ministry of Defence reported via Telegram that Russia has started large-scale exercises involving its strategic nuclear forces, stationed for launch by air, land and sea, and put its units on the highest alert."

In my new book I explain why the U.S. is not at all prepared for a nuclear conflict with Russia. But most Americans don’t care to listen to warnings from me or from anyone else about this. Most Americans just assume that our leaders know exactly what they are doing and that everything is going to be just fine.

Once upon a time, Barack Obama warned that we should never underestimate Joe Biden’s ability to mess things up. Now we have reached a point where there is a very real possibility that Joe Biden could get the majority of the U.S. population killed in a cataclysmic war. This isn’t going to end well, and I would urge you to prepare accordingly."

What If A Nuclear Bomb Hits New York Tomorrow

"The Poisoning Of Eastern Ohio And Western Pennsylvania Is Much Worse Than We Are Being Told" (Excerpt)

"The Poisoning Of Eastern Ohio And Western
Pennsylvania Is Much Worse Than We Are Being Told"
By Michael Snyder

Excerpt: "The true horror of what just happened in East Palestine, Ohio is starting to become clear, but federal, state and local officials continue to insist that everything is just fine. So even though local residents have been puking up blood and developing weird rashes on their skin, everyone is being told that it is perfectly safe to return to their homes and that it is perfectly safe to drink the water. This should make all of us extremely angry, because so many of these people are going to get sick and so many of them are going to die.

Look, the truth should be obvious to everyone at this stage. Even CNN is admitting that local residents “have developed rashes, sore throats, nausea and headaches after returning to their homes this week“…"Some residents of East Palestine, Ohio, say they have developed rashes, sore throats, nausea and headaches after returning to their homes this week, and they’re worried these new symptoms are related to chemicals released after a train derailment two weeks ago.

The February 3 incident caused a massive fire and prompted officials to evacuate hundreds of people who lived near the site because of fears that a hazardous, highly flammable material might ignite. To prevent a potentially deadly explosion, toxic vinyl chloride gas was vented and burned, releasing a plume of black smoke over the town for days."

Please note that these local residents did not develop these symptoms before they evacuated. According to CNN, these symptoms developed after they returned to their homes. And those local residents only returned to their homes because authorities told them that it was safe to do so."

"Costco Hit By Nationwide Egg Shortage: Long Lines and Rising Prices Spark Tension Among Shoppers"

Full screen recommended.
"Costco Hit By Nationwide Egg Shortage:
Long Lines and Rising Prices Spark Tension Among Shoppers"
by Epic Economist

"Are you tired of waiting in long lines just to get a carton of eggs? Well, you're not alone. Costco, one of the largest wholesale stores in America, has been hit by the nationwide egg shortage, which has led to rising prices and long lines of customers eager to buy eggs. But that's not the worst part. In this documentary, we will uncover the true reasons behind this egg shortage, its impact on customers, businesses, and the environment. Brace yourselves, because things are about to get serious.

The egg crisis that is sweeping the United States has been caused by a catastrophic bird flu outbreak that has ravaged chicken farms all across the country. The sheer scale of the problem is almost incomprehensible - millions of chickens have been affected, and the resulting shortage of eggs has sent prices skyrocketing to unprecedented levels. The average cost of a dozen eggs has doubled from last year, and the situation is only getting worse.

People are panicking, and it's not hard to see why. The situation is reminiscent of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, when shoppers rushed to stock up on toilet paper, causing widespread shortages and chaos. This time, it's eggs that are in short supply, and the panic buying has resulted in long lines and limited availability. Shoppers are scrambling to purchase as many eggs as possible before they disappear, and it's not hard to see why - with the median price of a dozen eggs rising to a staggering $4.25 in December, it's clear that the impact of this crisis is going to be felt for a long time to come.

One viral TikTok video has captured the extent of the chaos that the egg shortage has caused. In the video, a long line of desperate customers can be seen snaking through the aisles of a Costco store, waiting anxiously for their chance to purchase a precious carton of eggs. The video was posted by a shocked shopper who could hardly believe how quickly the line had formed, and how tensions among customers were beginning to rise. Some shoppers were pointing their fingers in the air, accusing others of trying to cut in line, while others were exchanging heated words and even coming to blows. The scene was chaotic, and it's clear that the egg shortage has had a significant impact on Costco's customers - but the problem is much bigger than just one store.

The consequences of this crisis are far-reaching and potentially catastrophic. For farmers who have lost entire flocks of chickens to the bird flu, the impact is devastating. With millions of chickens affected, the resulting shortage of eggs is threatening to push many farmers out of business, leaving them struggling to make ends meet. For consumers, the situation is just as dire. Eggs are a staple food that many people rely on for their daily nutrition, and the soaring prices are putting them out of reach for many families.

In conclusion, the problem of food waste is a complex one that requires a multifaceted approach. By working together at all levels of the food system, we can begin to make progress in reducing waste and ensuring that more people have access to the food they need to thrive. Whether it's making small changes in our own lives or advocating for policy changes at the national level, we all have a role to play in this important issue."

"Between That Rock and The Hard Place"
By Jim Kunstler

"The president has made American support for Ukraine the centerpiece of his argument for a revitalized alliance in Europe, and he had told advisers that he wanted to mark the first anniversary of the invasion as a way of reassuring allies that his administration remains committed…”
- The New York Times, Feb 20, 2023

"Secret Agent Man “Joe Biden” turned up in Kiev Monday morning after landing in Poland and riding an overnight choo-choo train across the Ukraine frontier to avoid the hazardous pomp of landing Air Force One in a war zone. One might try to guess the message Victoria Nuland sent her errand boy to deliver. My guess is that “JB” was there to tell Wolodymyr Zelensky the USA stands behind him one hundred percent - an obvious whopper - being exactly the opposite of the developing reality that, short of setting off nuclear Armageddon, there is really nothing the USA can do to prevent Russia from concluding our ill-conceived project on its own terms. Who better to deliver an arrant falsehood than the master, “Scranton Joe,” he who once battled and vanquished the tyrant Corn-Pop!

Remember, last week Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, General Mark Milley, speaking out of the aperture between his butt cheeks, announced that Russia had lost “strategically, operationally and tactically” in Ukraine. This was after NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg announced rather clumsily that Ukraine’s army was out of ammo, especially artillery shells, and the only remedy for that was for Europe to rebuild an armaments industry - which was a sideways-and-backwards way of saying… fuggeddabowdit.

One might also suppose that, behind all this cognitive dissonance, the US would be engaged in secret talks with Russia to arrive at some face-saving device for getting out of this mess. But really, what is our leverage for that? Can we threaten to put US boots-on-the-Ground in Ukraine? That would be a little like channeling Gen. George Armstrong Custer, don’t you think? Apparently, all we’re left with is a game of pretend, using the Pretender-in-Chief as the front.

I’d also venture to say that American voters are not so enthused about this Ukraine pageant as they seemed to be last summer when the yellow and blue flags popped up on front porches at every Woked-up clam-bake from Edgartown to Bar Harbor. Our Ukrainian proxies sure seemed to be giving those Ruskies what-for along the front lines in Donbas, payback, you understand, for helping Donald Trump steal the 2016 election from She Whose Turn It Was Supposed to Be… America’s Amazonian Caesar-in-a-pants-suit, HRC.

The fall offensive by Ukraine was an illusion, alas, setting up its army for methodical decimation, now nearly complete. So, too, is all the talk of sending tanks in to save the day. And so, too, is the very existence of NATO as anything other than window-dressing on an empty storefront. If blowing up the Nord Stream pipelines, as recently alleged by independent reporter Seymour Hersh, smells like an attack on our supposed ally, Germany, then how was it not an attack on NATO, in which Germany is the centerpiece? And, finally, why would Germany not be engaging in secret talks of its own with Russia, behind America’s back?

Intrigue must be rife now throughout Europe, and Americans will not hear anything about it from its Deep State-owned news media. Is there any reason why Europe could not live with a neutralized Ukraine? Of course not. Ukraine is in uproar now simply because geniuses in the US State Department thought it would be a good way to annoy and antagonize Russia. The project was insane from inception. The main result is that Europe will no longer have the natural gas it needs at a rational price to continue being an industrial society.

One must conclude that NATO is looking for a way out of this. But there is no way out except to declare by word or deed, directly or otherwise, that NATO has outlived the reason for its existence. Any sane analysis by Europeans would arrive at the unnerving realization that the USA has become the enemy of NATO, not Russia. If all that is so, then a seismic shift is underway that will leave America hung out to dry on the Ukraine project. Germany will have to make a deal with Russia to rebuild the Nord Streams. What could the US do about that? Impose sanctions on Germany, France, the Netherlands, and the rest of the bunch? Where does that leave Western Civ?

I’ll tell you: it leaves Western Civ diminished. It leaves our country to stew in its own rancid economic and financial juices in abject isolation from, basically, the rest of the world. (Fare-thee-well hegemonic dream; hello multi-polarity!) It leaves Ukraine neutralized and no longer a problem… It leaves Russia able to feel secure in its borders and free to get on with being a normal nation… and it leaves Europe the hope that it can resume modern life a while longer with the familiar comforts and conveniences.

The end of the Ukraine conflict also exposes the rotten web of Globalist schemers who planted their operators in every niche of American life and all around Western Civ - George Soros’s empire of meddling NGOs, Bill Gates’s World Health Org puppet show, the ridiculous World Economic Forum’s network of stooges in high places from Justin Trudeau to BlackRock’s Larry Fink.

The end of the Ukraine conflict reveals the submission of the Democratic Party to nefarious interests intent on wrecking this country. Even the most benign end to the Ukraine conflict - such as, by default, Europe and Russia settling-up on their own to stop the fighting - will be another humiliation for “Joe Biden” and the crew behind him, as bad as the last days in Kabul. Their other crimes await full disclosure, everything from treasonous bribery to the fraud and genocide around Covid-19. There will have to be a severe political realignment in America. But before that can happen, expect many seasons of terrible disorder."

Musical Interlude: Gnomusy, "Shadows In The Wood"

Gnomusy, "Shadows In The Wood"

"A Look to the Heavens"

“Stars are sometimes born in the midst of chaos. About 3 million years ago in the nearby galaxy M33, a large cloud of gas spawned dense internal knots which gravitationally collapsed to form stars. NGC 604 was so large, however, it could form enough stars to make a globular cluster.
Many young stars from this cloud are visible in the above image from the Hubble Space Telescope, along with what is left of the initial gas cloud. Some stars were so massive they have already evolved and exploded in a supernova. The brightest stars that are left emit light so energetic that they create one of the largest clouds of ionized hydrogen gas known, comparable to the Tarantula Nebula in our Milky Way's close neighbor, the Large Magellanic Cloud.”

"Life Has No Victims..."

Life has no victims. There are no victims in this life. No one has the right to point fingers at his/her past and blame it for what he/she is today. We do not have the right to point our finger at someone else and blame that person for how we treat others, today. Don’t hide in the corner, pointing fingers at your past. Don’t sit under the table, talking about someone who has hurt you. Instead, stand up and face your past! Face your fears! Face your pain! And stomach it all! You may have to do so kicking and screaming and throwing fits and crying – but by all means – face it! This life makes no room for cowards.”

"They Wouldn't Really Go Nuclear, Would They?"

"They Wouldn't Really Go Nuclear, Would They?"
by Jeff Thomas

"In 2014, the US funded a coup d’état in Ukraine, ejecting the democratically elected president and installing an American puppet. The new regime then set about attacking the republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, which were predominantly Russian. Russia did not intervene, even though the US was messing in Russia’s "back yard." It did, however, draw some "red lines," warning the Ukrainian government in Kiev that if it tried to take Crimea, join NATO, or become a nuclear state, Russia would invade.

In February 2022, Ukrainian puppet-President Zelensky announced at the Munich Security Conference that Ukraine would go nuclear. That was the trigger that caused Russia to invade Ukraine, days later. The US declared outrage and sought to involve NATO in retaliation. The American media was filled with angry reports of the "unprovoked invasion," stating that Russia’s goal was to seize all of Europe.

Since that time, the US media have maintained a constant barrage of propaganda regarding the war. The theme is always the same: The Russians are a murderous army, killing civilians and bombing hospitals and schools. But they are also incompetent, poorly led, their troops riddled with deserters, losing battle after battle, and experiencing far more casualties than the Ukrainians.

And yet, even though the Russians are claimed every day on the news to be losing badly, somehow, they have continued to advance. Kiev has been continually desperate for more from NATO in order to survive, and the US and other countries never seem to be offering enough materiel, advisors and funding for Ukraine to win.

Eventually, rumors began to leak out of Ukraine: Their casualties are eight to Russia’s one. The seasoned Ukrainian troops have been decimated. Kiev is barely surviving with green conscripts, outside contractors and depleting resources. Meanwhile, Russia has built up a force of over 500,000 fresh troops that are well trained and well-armed with substantial supply lines. A winter campaign is under way that’s expected to make short work of the collapsing Ukrainian defense.

The US has done all it can to appeal to the thirty-nation NATO, but the NATO countries, for the most part, are staying as far away from the fight as possible, not even wanting to provide materiel.

At the beginning of the war, Joe Biden stated, "The idea that we’re going to send in offensive equipment and have planes and tanks and trains going in with American pilots and American crews, just understand… that’s called ‘World War III.’" Yet, in January 2023, he announced that the US and Germany would send 45 tanks to Ukraine. It might as well be sending 45 school children with pop guns, as they’d last nearly as long on the field of battle as 45 tanks.

Not only is the US running out of options, but the American people are beginning to realize that they’ve been lied to, and while inflation is raging in the US, the US government is pouring billions into Ukraine. All is not well on the home front.

US leaders have begun to suggest that a "limited nuclear war" might be the one remaining option. This suggests that if the US were to fire a few nuclear missiles, it would scare Russia into throwing in the towel. The trouble is Russia has the largest number and most advanced nuclear weapons on the planet. The chances of it not retaliating to "limited" nukes are nil. Instead, they’re likely to unleash the full force of their nuclear armaments.

The media has said that the present situation is "unprecedented." But in fact, this has happened before. In 1962, it was the Soviets that had the temerity to move into America’s "back yard," sending missiles to Cuba. The US was as justifiably outraged then as Russia is now.

At that time, President Kennedy called the Joint Chiefs together to advise him. Today, that meeting has been largely forgotten, but it’s important to recall that the joint chiefs unanimously said, in essence, "Press the button immediately. Don’t wait another day."

Mr. Kennedy was alone in the hope that nuclear Armageddon could be avoided. With no other option open to him, he called Soviet Leader Nikita Khrushchev and asked him to call back the ships that carried the missiles. Mr. Khrushchev advised him that his own generals were telling him, too, to push the button immediately. The two men ignored their respective generals and worked out an agreement in which both sides would de-escalate. Armageddon was avoided by two sane men.

But here we are again, possibly on the brink of Armageddon. All that’s required is for one side to push the button. The missile systems of the other would then respond. But would anyone actually push the button?

Well, Mr. Putin, as formidable as he is, is a pragmatic man and may well respond as well or better than Mr. Khrushchev. But the man in the White House is no John Kennedy; he’s a cardboard cutout of a leader. The real decisions in Washington are being made by the Deep State… and it’s running out of options.

Russia holds virtually all the cards: Its economy is expanding. The US sanctions have caused two-thirds of the world to seek new treaties with Russia and China. The new agreement between China and Saudi Arabia will effectively end the petro dollar. And the US is not only broke but in debt beyond the ability to even pay the interest.

The last thing the Deep State wants is a loss of face, leading to a loss of power. And their last hope may well be to bluff that they will go nuclear. So, if this were to happen, how would it play out? Well, based upon past performance, the most likely scenario would be that the US would fire a low-yield (perhaps 0.3 kiloton) B61 missile at, say, Kiev, and claim that it was a Russian missile, then call on all of NATO to join the fight against Russia.

The danger of this is that the pre-programmed missile systems in both the US and Russia would take over, carpeting the US, Europe and Western Russia with nukes. The volleys would be brief, lasting only a few hours, but their total volume would be sufficient enough to obliterate those countries.

The casualties are estimated at 91.5 million. Deaths from fallout would significantly increase this number, as fallout would cover much of the Northern Hemisphere, moved by trade winds and ocean currents. (As the Southern Hemisphere has a separate weather system and virtually all targets would be in the north, the Southern Hemisphere would fare far better than the north.) Beyond this damage, a nuclear winter would ensue, lasting months and perhaps years.

In reading the above, the natural reaction for each of us, as sane people, would be to say, "That can’t possibly happen. Nobody would be that crazy." Yet, as is so often the case, many of the world’s political and military leaders are certifiably sociopathic. And as history shows, when sociopaths vie for power, reason tends to go out the window.

In looking back to 1962 once again, it’s instructive to note that, when Fidel Castro was advised by Mr. Khrushchev that de-escalation had been agreed upon, he was furious. He is reported to have advised Mr. Khrushchev that he would have preferred Armageddon for his country rather than to have been left out of the negotiations. Such is the nature of sociopaths. It should be emphasized that nuclear war is by no means a certainty… but we are dangerously close."

"What Might Have Been..."

“Space I can recover. Time, never.”
-  Napoleon Bonaparte

“Lands can be reconquered, indeed in the course of a battle, a hill or a certain plain might trade hands several times. But missed opportunities? These can never be regained. Moments in time, in culture? They can never be re-made. One can never go back in time to prepare for what they should have prepared for, no one can ever get back critical seconds that were wasted out of fear or ego. Napoleon was brilliant at trading space for time: Sure, you can make these moves, provided you are giving me the time I need to drill my troops, or move them to where I want them to be. Yet in life, most of us are terrible at this. We trade an hour of our life here or afternoon there like it can be bought back with the few dollars we were paid for it. And it is only much, much later, as they are on their deathbeds or when they are looking back on what might have been, that many people realize the awful truth of this quote. Don’t do that. Embrace it now.”

"How It Really Is"

"Mayor Pete Missed The Train To Ohio"

"Mayor Pete Missed The Train To Ohio"
By Michael Reagan

"Train wreck. That’s a perfect way to describe the dismal record of the Biden administration. We’ve already seen a series of major disasters at home and abroad. And now we have a literal train wreck in eastern Ohio that is, yet again, exposing how incompetent, laughably dumb and out-of-touch the president and his gang in Washington are.

The derailment of the Norfolk Southern freight train in East Palestine, Ohio, on Feb. 3 started out as a small news item from a Trump corner of Flyover Country. But it quickly became a major story when it was learned that some of the 38 derailed cars were carrying unpronounceable and unspellable hazardous materials, including tank cars full of cancer-causing vinyl chloride and ethylhexyl acrylate.

Three days later, to avoid a major explosion from the leaking cars, the authorities in charge and the railroad execs made the fateful – and, as we now know, foolish – decision to do a controlled burn of the dangerous chemicals. The evil mushroom cloud of thick black smoke that formed over the town of 5,000 souls looked like something out of a disaster movie. But it was real. As the cloud drifted eastward, it poisoned the air, water and land with a shower of dangerous chemicals that has killed fish and pet chickens, poisoned water wells and scared the heck out of people living downwind in Ohio and western Pennsylvania.

In the last two weeks, what happened in East Palestine has exploded into a major environmental catastrophe that could have long-term health effects on the health of thousands for decades. But as of Thursday, the president and his bumbling Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg, have virtually ignored the derailment and the ongoing environmental calamity.

The president went on TV Thursday afternoon to read a statement to reporters about why we’ve been using jets and $400,000 rockets to shoot down Chinese spy balloons, private weather balloons and other unidentified flying things – and then walked off without answering any questions about anything.

Meanwhile, Mayor Pete, who earlier this week was talking about diversity, inclusion and equity and complaining that construction workers were too white, also has been AWOL on the derailment disaster. He’s managed only a tweet expressing how he continues “to be concerned” about the impact that the derailment has had on families whose “lives were upended through no fault of their own.”

Reports that Mayor Pete was seen on a bicycle going door-to-door in East Palestine in a hazmat suit to express his deep concern turned out to be fake news. But that’s exactly what Buttigieg should have been doing the last 10 days.

Instead of hiding wherever it is he’s hiding and blaming the train derailment on a regulatory rule changed by the Trump administration, he should have gone to East Palestine long ago. Both he and President Biden, who apparently still hasn’t been told about the derailment, should have gone to Ohio together to comfort the local people and promise that the federal government would help with anything they need. That’s the job the president is supposed to do when there’s a major disaster like this – go to the scene, wrap their arms around the people there, embrace them and comfort them.

President Biden has done none of that. He didn’t even order Buttigieg to take Air Force Two to Ohio. As for Mayor Pete, instead of having someone on his staff whip up a token tweet of concern, he should have stayed overnight with a local family in East Palestine and been videotaped chugging their tap water – and not in a hazmat suit."
